JUEBAN WOODcUTS

普洱绝版木刻

The “Jueban Woodcut” is a relief printing technique developed from traditional multicolor woodcut printing. It originated in Pu’er, Yunnan, in the late 1980s and has since become one of the four major printmaking schools in China. Jueban Woodcut consolidates all color plates of a painting onto a single plate, using a method of carving and printing in a sequentially diminishing manner. The process of carving and printing naturally leads to the destruction of the plate, so once the artwork is completed, the original plate can no longer produce prints, thus it is referred to as “limited edition woodcut.”
